Investing in innovations as a success factor.

Success stories in medium-sized companies are characterized by entrepreneurial courage and foresight. Reinhard Hassink has made his vision come true, together with loyal, ambitious employees: to become a powerful problem solver and system supplier for his customers with services and quality products that have to do with steel, stainless steel and aluminum.

The investments in innovative technologies such as laser and robotic welding each resulted in growth spurts for MBH. Get on the time machine with us and discover the decisive chapters of the MBH company story.

1977

Founding of the company

Reinhard Hassink, a master of mechanical engineering dares to take the step into self-employment: with initially two employees, he takes over the locksmith business from Albert Verlemann in Recke. The first customers are farmers and companies in the closer environment. They order repairs, locksmith work and the first mechanical engineering.
The young entrepreneur quickly invests in the core competence of CNC sheet metal processing. With the most modern technology, he sets the course for quality and success in the production of system components, machines and plants. The company continues to grow – and in 1982, he did invest in the machine park- again.

1985

the company moves to Recke-Obersteinberg

The quick growing makes it necessary to find a new location for the business: the business is now set- up in Recke- Obersteinbeck on the site of the former Hochwald-Milchwerke. The existing machine park is extensively modernized and expanded with powerful CNC-controlled machines.
Now, at this time, 35 employees are working on the success of the company. On an area of 1,800 square meters they produce sheet metal parts and welded assemblies for craft and industrial companies in the region.

1990

New construction of an administration and production complex

Continuous growth requires the next expansion. In 1990, another production area with 3,300 square meters was built in the industrial area of Ibbenbüren-Uffeln. Due to this occasion, company founder Reinhard Hassink, once again shows his enthusiasm for innovative technologies: he invests in laser technology as a new form of sheet metal processing.
The company is then establishing itself in the supplier market. After a name change in 1991, the company is now named MBH Maschinen- und Stahlbau GmbH and employs 75 people. In the same year, MBH invests in a modern enamelling line, which makes it necessary to expand the existing production area to 6,500 square meters.

2002

A quarter century full of company successes

In the 90s, management as well as staff are becoming more and more sensitive to an intensive customer and service orientation. The Japanese way of thinking of a continuous improvement process towards the perfection of production and workflow (KAIZEN) finds its way into MBH.
In 1996, Reinhard Hassink recognized the importance of an even more comprehensive quality management. The company is certified according to DIN EN ISO 9001. This documents the high quality level of the products, services and internal processes externally.
The customer base now extends far beyond the region. The quality services of MBH are also known and of great value in Austria and Switzerland. This positive development leads to further investments: expansion of the production area to 11,000 square meters, updating and expansion of the state-of-the-art machine park and hiring more employees.

2011

A second managing director and 200 employees

The company’s founder’s enthusiasm for innovation and investment has carried over to the next generation. Björn Hassink is the managing director with equal rights alongside Reinhard Hassink on January 1st, 2011. He is also orientating himself on technical progress and the requirements of the market.
At the same time, MBH expands the range of services. MBH already becomes a competent service provider in the development and construction phase. In addition, customer-side constructions are revised in terms of value analysis.
In addition to the technical investments, increased value is also placed on the most important production factor – the company’s own employees. There are many awards in recognized company competitions for the efforts. These show that MBH has recognized the signs of the times and has positioned itself as an attractive employer in the long term.
MBH is also increasingly assuming responsibility for the region and the people who are living in it. Successful charity events to support the weaker members of society and conscientious handling of the environment are important concerns of management and employees.
